Korean Fried Chicken

By: JP

Today, I’m introducing you to a classic Korean street food: Korean fried chicken.

What is it? It’s super crispy pieces of sweet and spicy chicken that are usually marinated, breaded, then fried. Which pieces? Any kind! You can have breasts, thighs, wings—you name it. The only difference is the cooking time, which will be longer depending on how thick the pieces are.

Korean fried chicken is tasty and a great appetizer to have on the table when you’re entertaining. And an added bonus is that it goes great with beer, preferably a session. 😎

Here’s how to make my recipe:

Required tools:

  • Rotisserie system
  • House of BBQ Experts’ Rotiss-O-Max Rotisserie basket

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg boneless chicken thigh (or other part of the chicken)
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup (approx.) breadcrumbs
  • House of BBQ Experts The Booster, to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 10 (approx.) sprigs of chives
  • 1 cup House of BBQ Experts Funky sauce
  • 1 cup House of BBQ Experts Samurai sauce

Directions:

  1. Install the rotisserie system on your grill and preheat the unit to no more than 400°F with only the back burner lit.
  2. Using a knife, slice the chicken thighs (or whatever part you’re using) into small pieces. Set aside in a bowl.
  3. Pour flour over the chicken and toss it to distribute the flour evenly.
  4. Add the breadcrumbs, then The Booster flavor enhancer to the pieces of chicken. Toss again and set aside.
  5. In another bowl, beat the eggs.
  6. Add the eggs to the bowl with the chicken, then toss one last time.
  7. Transfer the pieces of chicken to the Rotiss-O-Max. Place the rotisserie basket on the rotisserie system and allow the chicken cook as it rotates.
  8. Meanwhile, mix the Funky Chili and Samurai sauces in a bowl until combined and chop the chives. Set aside separately.
  9. When the pieces of chicken reach an internal temperature of 165°F, after about 20 minutes of cooking, take them off the grill and transfer them to a bowl.
  10. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and stir to coat them well with the sauce.
  11. Just before serving, arrange the chicken pieces in a nice bowl and sprinkle with chopped chives.
  12. Enjoy!

Happy grilling!
