Upgrade your grilled cheese game

Written by Maude Bonin

This blog was written in honour of perhaps the most popular and beloved late night snack in North America: the grilled cheese. Truth be told, not too many people are having friends over and serving them grilled cheese. However, we’ve got a great recipe that you would love enough to have it on your Saturday menu.

And as a full-time student and part-time worker, I’m always looking forward to save time. And what’s faster than a grilled cheese?

Here are my three favourite grilled cheese recipes:

The Classic

Ingredients

2 slices of bread

Brie cheese

One pear, peeled and quartered

Preparation

Cut the brie cheese into slices.

Peel and quarter the pear.

Light your BBQ and preheat at 350°F

Put a cast iron griddle on your BBQ.

Butter the bread

Put the cheese and the pear into the bread to make it as a sandwich

Put the sandwich on your griddle and listen to the magical sound of melting cheese.

Press the grilled cheese with a spatula and cook for two minutes on each side.

Enjoy!

For the meat lover

Ingredients

2 slices of bread

2 slice of salami

1 slice of ham

2 slices of swiss cheese

2 slices of pepperoni

Preparation

Light your BBQ and preheat at 350°F

Put a cast iron griddle on your BBQ so it can be really hot!

Butter the bread on each sides.

Make a sandwich with the salami, the ham, the pepperoni and the cheese.

Put the sandwich on your griddle and listen to the magical sound of melting cheese.

Press the grilled cheese with a spatula and cook for 2 minutes on each side.

Enjoy!

For the Veggie lover

Ingredients

2 slices of bread

1 Veggie pâté

1 avocado

Dried tomatoes

Goat cheese

Mayonnaise

Sriracha

Preparation

Put the mayo and the sriracha into a bowl to obtain a spicy mayo

Light your BBQ and preheat at 350°F

Put a cast iron griddle on your BBQ so it can be really hot!

Butter the bread on each side and baste spicy mayo.

Slice an avocado and a veggie pâté.

Make a sandwich with the veggie pâté, the avocado, the dried tomatoes and the goat cheese.

Put the sandwich on your griddle and listen to the magic sound of melting cheese.

Press the grilled cheese with a spatula and cook for 2 minutes on each side.

Enjoy!
