A Pizza Peel That Can Take the Heat

If pizza is everything to you too, you’ve come to the right place. 😎

As fans of both pizza and grilling, Max and JP have created a new tool to round out the House of BBQ Experts pizza collection. So, what is it? The Prep & Slide Pizza Peel (and yup, you can use it to transfer food into the oven!)

Pizza Peel vs. Prep & Slide Pizza Peel

Before we go any further, you may be thinking that we already sell a pizza peel, so why bring out another one? We hear you, we get it, which is why it’s important that we start off by explaining the difference between the Prep & Slide Pizza Peel and our “regular” pizza peel.

Other than the obvious physical differences, such as size, color and thickness, it’s worth mentioning that the “standard” has an aluminum body and a wooden handle, while the new one is entirely made of antibacterial, nonporous wood fiber. The main advantage here (besides the fact that the peel has an antibacterial surface) is that wood fiber is a much less sticky material than aluminum, which is what makes it so great for prepping pizzas and putting them on the grill. Wood fiber is also appealing because, unlike pure wood, it doesn’t need to be oiled and is thus less likely to crack.

Another difference is in the edge of the peels. The edge of the pizza peel is flat and even from one side to the other, while the edge of the Prep & Slide Pizza Peel is beveled—another reason why it’s more convenient for sliding pizzas. Oh, and the edge is beveled on both sides, so this peel is reversible, too.

Otherwise, thanks to this peel’s smaller size and wood fiber composition, it’s also dishwasher safe, which is not the case for our “regular” peel. You also only need to use one hand to grip it instead of two.

Other Interesting Features

Let’s start with the most obvious: it’s nice, sleek, black look. Not only does the color allow the peel to complement all your cooking tools, but it also keeps it from looking dirty. Plus, it also has the cool House of BBQ Experts flame on the handle, which gives it a modern and stylish look (and the real ones will know you’re a serious grill master 😉 ).

Moreover, its wood fiber composition makes it super resistant—it can withstand temperatures up to 350°F. So, the pizza peel will last you a long time, and you’ll be able to get it right up to your grill to slide your pizza onto it without a hitch.

The 6 mm thickness also gives you a better grip and contributes to the peel’s toughness and durability.

Lastly, the handle also has a hole in it, so you’ll easily be able to hang it on one of your grill’s hooks. Otherwise, it’s pretty small, so storage isn’t an issue. 😉

A Peel of All Purposes

To conclude, it should be noted that this peel can be used, yes, to slide pizzas into the oven, as mentioned, but also to prep them.

Simply dust a little flour or cornmeal, shape your pizza directly on the peel and POOF! It’s already in position for the grill.

Obviously, you can use the peel to make meals other than pizza or even as a serving board. What you do with it is up to you 😉

What do you find most appealing about this peel?

We can’t wait to read your comments!

Happy grilling!
